NMC issues regulations for NExT— eligibility, attempts, 10-year rule, all FAQs answered : The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi has made an important announcement regarding the National Exit Test (NExT). In order to familiarize medical students with the upcoming examination, AIIMS Delhi has scheduled a mock test for NExT on July 28. This development stems from the introduction of NExT, which aims to establish a single comprehensive exit test for medical students, serving both as a licentiate exam and an entrance examination.
The NExT will be conducted in two distinct steps, namely Step 1 and Step 2. It is crucial for candidates to successfully clear this examination within a span of ten years from the time they joined the MBBS course. This implementation ensures that students remain updated with the evolving medical knowledge and skills required in the field.
Addressing the need for standardized assessments and a streamlined evaluation process, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has recently issued comprehensive guidelines for the NExT. These guidelines serve as a reference point for conducting the examination, establishing uniform standards, and maintaining fairness in the evaluation process.
Overall, the introduction of the NExT and the subsequent mock test organized by AIIMS Delhi signal a significant shift towards a more unified and standardized approach in assessing medical students, thereby ensuring the proficiency and competency of future medical practitioners.
