IIT Bombay gets Rs 22.5 crore grant from SBI Foundation to establish banking data & analytics hub

The SBI Foundation has pledged a donation of Rs 22.5 crore to establish a banking data and analytics center at IIT-Bombay. The primary aim of the center is to address the challenges encountered by the banking and financial services industry in India. This announcement was made on the 68th Bank Day.
Covering an area of 10,000 square feet, the center will include a dedicated laboratory space and will offer financial support for research and skill development in the fields of data analytics and artificial intelligence. The grant emphasizes the importance of data analytics and AI within the banking sector.

Dinesh Khara, the Chairperson of SBI, expressed that this partnership will enhance SBI’s AI capabilities and yield benefits for the entire BFSI sector by encouraging the adoption of emerging technologies.
Professor Ravi Gudi, the Dean of Alumni and Corporate Relations at IIT-B, explained that the center will focus on activities aimed at fostering expertise and expanding the pool of professionals specialized in banking analysis.
